Sport in Pakistan Board (PSB) has directed all national sports federations to submit annual training programs of athletes in order to eyeing the London Olympics. About 39 national sports federations are currently registered with the PSB, which provided financial support and training facilities for sporting bodies for the last five decades.Currently, the board has four training centers in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi.It is the priority of the Board to facilitate the most players to all national centers so that players could benefit from better training facilities, Dr. Nawaz maintained.He stressed that existing facilities would be upgraded with the sponsorship and public-private partnership.Dr Nawaz said that the board has also developed a comprehensive plan for the establishment of a "Sport Sciences and Support Center" to serve as a center of excellence for national players , coaches and officials to get training on modern scientific lines.The the center in question is expected to be developed along the lines of Australian sports centers that provide training to athletes through the scientific and engineering principles to improve their performance. Meanwhile, an official National Federation welcomed the decision of the commission, saying in addition to current training provision, the board should also review the annual grants provided to national federations. "The board has provided a very small amount to the national federations who is not a healthy sign for the development of sports. If the board, he said, was serious for the development of sports in the country "He needs to double subsidies to all national federations to achieve positive results as required.
