Dharna hey dharna dharne k beche kuch bhi nahi hey

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the party’s Rawalpindi chapter and its six MPAs for not bringing enough people to the sit-in.

Imran Khan summoned all leaders from Rawalpindi on Wednesday and met them inside the Azadi Truck on the Constitution Avenue. The meeting was attended by President PTI North Punjab Sadaqat Abbasi and MPAs Saddique Khan, Malik Taimoor Masood, Asif Mehmood, Rashid Hafeez, Ijaz Khan Jazi and Arif Abbasi.

He asked them to bring 200 people from each union council for the next two to three days, to show the party’s street strength in the ‘final stage’.
“If all office-bearers attended the sit-in, then more than 1,000 people will remain on the protest venue. The responsibility lies on the shoulders of the local leaders to improve the attendance of the gathering in the next two or three days, which will be final,” he quoted the party chairman’s views.

He said the party leaders had informed the chairman that most of the people avoided to come in front due to the presence of Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on the container.

He said the party leaders had been asked to remain loyal to the party and be ready for the final announcement of the movement.

The official said the presence of a large crowd was necessary for the gathering, because the PAT workers were higher in number and PTI needs to increase the number of its own workers at the protest venue.

He said the party chairman also questioned the resignations of the MPAs, who told him that the Punjab Assembly speaker had made phone calls to the MPAs for verification of their resignations one day before.

“All MPAs were assured that the party would give them party tickets again and accommodate them in the cabinet if PTI manages to form a government in the next elections. The party chairman was hopeful that the next general elections were near,” he said.

PTI District President and MPA Arif Abbasi told Dawn that the party members held a meeting with the chairman and discussed party issues for the next few days.

He said the party asked them to bring maximum number of people at the sit-in for next two to three days, adding that Imran Khan wanted to improve the morale of the local leadership and heard their problems during the meeting.

He said the PTI Punjab chapter also held a meeting and discussed the current situation after the departure of Javed Hashmi.

There has been a great deal of confusion on Thursday surrounding Chinese President

suggest that the visit, scheduled from 14th to 16th September, may be cancelled due to the

ongoing political tensions in Islamabad between the government and protestors led by

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)

leader Tahirul Qadri.National Security and Foreign Affairs Advisor to the PM Sartaj Aziz said

that the Chines leader’s visit will not be cancelled but it is a possibility that it could be

delayed. At the same time Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said on Twitter

that the visit had been cancelled and lashed out at the PTI and PTA leaders.

THE REAL KARGIL CONFLICT

Sharif blamed the 1999 Kargil conflict on army chief Pervez Musharraf, who later ousted him from power, and repeated his past criticism of the focus on military spending.Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Tuesday reiterated his country's stance on US drone strikes saying they violate its sovereignty prior to his scheduled meeting with President Barrack Obama on Wednesday. He urged the United States to stop drone strikes in tribal areas of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan. The statement came the same day as release of a report by Amnesty International which said killing of Pakistanis in US-led drone strikes may amount to war crimes or extrajudicial executions.Sharif also vowed to go the “extra mile” to make peace with India, saying the historic rivals can resolve all issues through dialogue. The prime minister, addressing the US Institute of Peace in Washington, said that Pakistan “will not be found wanting in walking the extra mile” with India. He regretted that periodic incidents such as violence on the disputed border in Kashmir had set back peace attempts.“I wish to assure this august audience that Pakistan desires to live in peace with its neighbor. We would not be found wanting in walking the extra mile,” said the Pakistani premier.“If we sit down together, if we seriously address these issues, I don't think we will face any problem.”“Kashmir, of course, is a very difficult issue and very difficult to resolve but I think, by sitting and talking, we will be able to find some way of resolving that, too,” he said.“Because that is a flash point not only in the region, but the whole world,” he said of Kashmir.Sharif, who swept back to power in May, noted that he was involved in a major peace initiative with India in 1999 when his then counterpart Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited Pakistan. The effort collapsed within months as Pakistan-backed forces infiltrated the Indian zone of Kashmir, which has been the source of two full-fledged wars between the nuclear powers.“Had our countries not wasted their precious resources in a never-ending arms race, we would not only have avoided the futile conflicts, but also emerged as stable and prosperous nations,” he said.

No one man show in pakistan election 2013

The former military strongman’s pervez musharraf nomination papers were also rejected on Tuesday from NA-32 Chitral, after being earlier disqualified from three other constituencies.Musharraf’s lawyer Muhammad Saad Shibli said they would contest the decision in the High Court. An election tribunal in Peshawar comprising Justice Fasiul Mulk, Justice Mrs Irshad Qaiser and Justice Mazhar Alam Advocate, after a lengthy debate on the objections raised against acceptance of Musharraf’s nomination papers by the returning officer in Chitral, barred the former president from contesting general elections.Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate Abdul latif, Jamaat-i-Islami candidate Abdul Akbar Chitrali along with three voters, Sajjadullah, Alamzeb and Khalilur Rehman had filed the objections.Earlier in the day, an election tribunal had decided against an appeal filed by Musharraf challenging the returning officer’s rejection of his nomination papers for NA-48 (Islamabad-I).The returning officer had rejected Musharraf’s nomination after objections were raised on it saying the retired general had subverted the Constitution as army chief and had illegally placed judges under house arrest.Musharraf’s appeal for NA-139 (Kasur-II) was also rejected by an election tribunal in Lahore. The tribunal said the former president had abrogated the Constitution thrice and thus did not qualify to contest in the coming general election.

reject karachi police report about no go area

During Thursday’s hearing of the Karachi law and order case, the Supreme Court rejected police reports regarding ‘no-go areas in Karachi’ saying they were identical in content. The bench observed that it appeared that the reports were authored by one person and ordered reports from all 112 police stations in the city to be submitted within 30 minutes’ time.A five-judge larger bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, was hearing the case pertaining to implementation of its 2011 order in a suo motu notice over unrest in Karachi.During the previous hearing, top law enforcement officials who had failed to control criminal activities in the city were severely reprimanded. The officials had admitted before the apex court bench that their men lacked the ‘will’ to combat the growing number of militants and gangsters in the city. This was on account of sluggish follow-up of cases of their colleagues who had been killed by criminals. The Supreme Court has been hearing the matter pertaining to the implementation of its 2011 verdict in the suo motu notice taken on Karachi’s worsening law and order situation.
